The app at this point is useless. It pulled up no theaters in any counties around me nor would it show any movies. I actually couldn't find anything on app that did what it said it should do. All it did was make me mad and waste space on my phone. Ive deleted it until hopefully developers get their stuff together

I can't get any information on the theaters in my area.  I think this is a hoax. you better not charge my card.until you get this site up and running properly

The app won't work until you receive the card in the mail and activate it in the app. I got my card yesterday and used it at a local theater today. No issues FYI. If you need to find out which theaters are supported before receiving your card, use the website on a PC and enter your zip. Just sharing my experience...

Brian.  How do you activate the card in the app when there is no button to actually activate it? do you have to call a number? or do you have to be in a theater or something?  i'm curious to know.

But the bigger problem is that no one from MoviePass is answering any questions.  How are we supposed to trust them if they ignore all of our questions, e-mails, tweets, DM's chats, etc, and only spend time on this forum deleting everyone's messages that make them look bad?

I would be more inclined to wait and trust them if they were available, but their CS has completely gone AWOL.  I have been billed, but haven't gotten my card, and I can't get an answer from them about when it will get here.  Radio silence.  And other people who have gotten their cards say they don't work, and they can't get any answers from anyone about what to do about it.

heather. before you got billed do you remember them taking a $1 out of your account?  I have not been billed yet but they did a credit card test and took $1 out.  i think i signed up on my laptop which i think give you 14 days free. if you sign up in the app i think they charge you right away.  im not sure.  there isn't much im sure about with this service yet lol

No, they billed me for the $10 right away (I think.) I never noticed a test/hold, though it could have happened in the day or two before I checked.  I also signed up for the free trial online, but they billed me right away anyway.

As for activation, I can't say for sure since I don't have mine yet, but on one of the other deleted posts someone posted a website address you had to go to to activate and link the card to your MP account before you could use it.  Maybe that link will come with the card if it ever actually arrives in the mail? ;)

ahh well then that would make sense because there sure as hell nowhere in the app to link a card lol.

i wish they would have sent emails like confirming that my address is good and my card is being prepared to ship.  i assume all this to be true because i see my address in the bill to and ship to field.

I signed up on the website last week (15th or so)... I have not gotten my card in the mail yet so I do not show any theaters listed as of yet but according to the zip code searches, almost all our area theaters will accept it. As far as the e-ticketing, per their FAQ... It is only select theaters

samantha yeah im in the LA area and i thought there would be a TON of eticket theaters around here but to my surprise there are NONE.

Well, you're one step ahead of me; I don't even see my address in the app.  I gave them my address when I signed up, but when I login to the app, it's not there.  So I clicked the "request card" link and gave them my address again, and filled in the billing and shipping addresses again, and my addresses are STILL not saved there.  So I contacted CS through every available method to see if there is a glitch in the Matrix or what, because I don't even know if my card is coming at this point, and they have all apparently gone on vacation and forgot to set their Out Of Office replies, because they aren't responding to anything. *sigh*

have you gone to the address tab and added it there manually?

when you requested the card did the address go through or did you get an error message?

Brian when did you order your card?

Yah Steve. I thought ours would be too since we can do the tickets online for the theater but I guess they don't have the agreement with those theaters for e-tickets. As far as customer service not responding, I got an email today saying that they were slammed and working hard to respond to everything. I am assuming mine hasn't been responded to because it is easily self resolved at this point.

As I've said before, I signed up last Tues. Probably before the rush of new signups. I got my card on Mon. 5 business days later. They clearly state you should receive your card in 5-7 business days. So if it hasn't been that yet, I'd say be a little more patient. As far as activating the card, when you open the app for the first time, it will ask for the last 4 digits of the card. As I had already played with the app some to no avail, I couldn't get it to ask me to activate the card again so I deleted and reinstalled the app. Then it prompted me to activate again. After this, it still wasn't showing any theaters in the app for me. I emailed customer service and they got back to me within minutes and the issue was resolved. I went to a movie today and it worked great. I'd imagine they're under a lot of pressure getting the cards out, etc. I agree they could be more forthcoming with this info but my suggestion is just wait until you get your cards. I used moviepass for a year consistently about 2 years ago. It's not a scam.

I signed up Tuesday as well but no card as of yet. Hoping it shows up tomorrow because I am anxious to use it but still being patient. I had a few timesouts and such while trying to sign up so it was as they started getting slammed

Go to MoviePass.com and enter your zip code in the lower portion of the website. I was surprised but pretty much all the theaters in Orange County, CA seemed to be listed except the few Cinepolis in the area but they are luxury theaters with huge reclining leather seats with waiters that serve you snacks, food, and alcoholic beverages and I already assumed they wouldn't be on the MoviePass list.

Brian I also found where you can activate the card from the website so as you previously stated I will be a bit more patient and see if that will work when my card arrives.  Thanks.

I hope this works out well for people brave enough to move forward based on the garbage website, app, support, and answers they give here. Just remember, if a company gives all these potential customers such a horrible support experience, you aren't going to get anything better once they take your money. Good luck

Yeesh.  This is a rough start.  The app is useless... hopefully only until I receive my card, but I am skeptical.  As far as the website, the map doesn't work.  You can't update the theater list with a new zip code since it seems perpetually stuck on NYC.  The map itself moves to your locale, but the list of theaters doesn't change.

I hope they get their act together, but clearly they don't have the infrastructure in place to support this operation right now.  I used PP to pay for my membership with the hopes that it gives me greater recourse when the wheels come off... but I am not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling thus far.  At the very least, they should NOT be taking people's money immediately (like they did for me) and then promising to send out the cards up to a month later.

Agreed on the useless app, pretty amazing to see something that bad these days.  Anyone find any theaters in north Dallas?  I've tried on the app and the website and get nothing.

Unable to login to app, received email sometime back stating card will arrive by sep 10th .

I guess it is a mass mailer but it also talks about using eticketing feature (if allowed by theatres) for the time being , but for that to work the app has to allow me to login .

anyone else also facing app login problems?

All the information in this FAQ is bullshit. The majority of the information I have read from Moviepass has been incorrect. Incompetence or outright scam - who knows, but either way I want my money back.
