Your app and site show no theaters in my area. You've debited my card. Either fix your search. Stop claiming 91% and refund my money.

Same here.  I can go to the website on my computer and see theatres nearby but in the app nothing.

The website is accurate. The full functionality of the app will work once you receive your Movie Pass Debit MasterCard and activate it with your account. You can't get movie tickets until you recieve the the DebitMastercard so just chill people! Complain when you receive the card and can't get a ticket.... otherwise it's pointless. FYI I guarantee that most every theater near you that accepts credit cards will work with the movie pass cause the debit card gets loaded with real cash every time you want to see a movie. Only places that won't work are speciality theaters like Arc Light and high end theaters that charge more than 91% of the theaters.

How do they know if you have a membership without a card, @unicorn.butterfly? I just read same, don't need to wait for card with e-ticket, just not sure what to do.

Only 6% of theaters offer e-tickets right now. If you have a membership in an area that offers e-tickets when you open your app you will see e-ticket theaters right after you sign up. If you see no theaters in the app then you have to wait for the physical MoviePass debit MasterCard to arrive before you can activate the app and start using your MoviePass.

    Thanks so much for answering.

It is nice that you Unicorn.Butterfly have attempted to answer this, but this seemed like something that should be a FAQ not a "hope someone who doesn't work for the company can answer my question."  I have also submitted an actual question through the support process to the company and have been waiting 4 days for a response.  One more thing, the theatres in my city, according to the websearch from this site, offer e-tickets.  So your statement "If you have a membership in an area that offers e-tickets when you open your app you will see e-ticket theaters right after you sign up.", might have been your experience but sure isn't mine.

Dan where do you live and what theatres because AMC is trying to cock block the MoviePass by stopping e-tickets in a few areas. But anyways If you do have theaters that offer e-tickets in your area and you don't see them in the app then Dan you have a legitimate complaint and it sucks that there are so many impatient people complaining that it is flooding the short staffed employees of MoviePass therefore preventing you from getting the real help you deserve.

Dan, also the info I provided was obtained from information I found in recent news articles regarding e-tickets that I found through google news searches.

I know my theaters offer e-tickets but I can't see ANY theaters. I'm not complaining, I honestly don't know if I just need to wait for an actual card. The email I got from movie pass said I didn't need to wait if I chose e-tIcket.
    I'm just confused.

    I live in Jacksonville FL.

At first no theaters were showing on the app. But they do now. I am still waiting for my card, and have not had a chance yet to try the service with or without a card. Shows both in San Diego and Temecula.

Hi Unicorn.butterfly!  I tried to sign on to the app and now its telling me "couldn't find user with your credentials" along with "error - user cancelled".  I have tried contacting support and they keep telling me to go to moviepass.com but this does nothing for me.  I will need the app to order tickets for the movie, right?  Thanks...and yes, I received my card in the mail :)

@Unicorn Butterfly, you are the only person working at this company. I can attest to this because I have sent no less than 3 "submit a request"s to moviepass advising that my debit card had not arrived in the 5-7 business days promised. So thank you for your hard work.  If my moviepass debit card EVER arrives I will start enjoying this service as it appears so many other people are. 14 business days, and counting.  Did not include the day I ordered service. 14-15 business days, and counting.

@MoviePass, Yall need to update the notes on your website.  Lying to your customers is a stupid business move.

He doesn't work for MoviePass, lol.  He is just a customer like you and I, except he has waaaaaayy too much time on his hands.  He gets all his information from reading the website or searching for news articles.  I think he has taken up answering questions in this forum as a hobby.

@diane to answer your question - yes you need the app on the phone. I would suggest to wait a couple more weeks and let this and the company get things sorted out, then contact them. Trying now you are probably 1 of the 150,000+ messages they have received. Can't wait? Then chalk it up to "this was too good to be true".

it is worth-it to wait patiently and calmly.

@diane, I received the same message, and I sent a support message in. I think they may be backlogged, but luckily I found this forum so I know how long it may take. I'll keep waiting patiently; it sounds like eventually they'll get to it. Just means when it does start working, I'll go to a bunch of movies in to make up for it. But it does seem they weren't quite prepared for the deluge of customers. Go figure! We all want to see cheap movies...

@diane, I found the answer: Reset your password, and have the link go to your PC. Once you reset your password, you should be able to save the new one, and you can start using the phone app! It's working for me now - good luck to you!

Hi, I tried that and I never get an email :(

How long did it take to get the reset email?

  • Avatar
    RBGillespie

@diane, check to see if it went to your spam. That's how I found my link - it had gone to my spam mail!

I checked that?  I tried to sign in again and it said "we could not find a user with your credentials" So I tried to sign on through Facebook and it said "Error - User Cancelled"  So I don't know.  Everyone is saying give it time and I guess thats all I can do right now??

    Thanks for your suggestions :)

I'm sorry - it may be something with your actual email account. Are you getting any emails from the company (Moviepass)? You might want to try their twitter account, if it hasn't been inundated with requests already...?
